Affiliate & Referral Disclosure

Last updated 26 June 2026 · Version 1.0

We believe in being upfront about how Spark makes money. This page explains our referral and affiliate relationships in plain terms. It sits alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

How Spark makes money

During our early-access phase, Spark's tools are free to use. We don't charge you to set up your business, and we don't ask for card details to get started. Instead, when we hand you over to a trusted third-party provider — for example a business bank account or accounting software — and you choose to sign up with them, that partner may pay us a referral fee.

This fee is always paid by the partner, never by you. You pay the partner exactly what you'd pay if you'd found them yourself — using our link doesn't add anything to your price.

Who our partners are

The providers we may earn a fee from currently fall into these categories:

This list changes as Spark grows. Some links are still being set up and may not earn a fee yet, and not every provider we mention is a paid partner — where we point you to official sources such as GOV.UK, HMRC or Companies House, we earn nothing.

How we choose who to recommend

We only feature partners we'd be comfortable recommending to a friend starting out. The free, official guidance in your setup checklist — the GOV.UK links, the steps you legally need to take — is given to everyone regardless of any commercial relationship, and a referral fee doesn't change what those steps say. Where we suggest a paid partner, we choose it for how well it fits new small businesses, not simply for the fee.

That said, we want you to make your own choice. You're never required to use a partner we suggest — you're free to pick any provider you like, and shopping around is always sensible.

What happens when you use a partner

When you choose to be handed over to a partner, you leave Spark and continue on the partner's own website, under their terms and privacy policy. They become responsible for the service they provide and for the data you give them. We're not responsible for their products, decisions or service — see section 6 of our Terms and the referral section of our Privacy Policy for more.
